It’s obvious, other than the subject material, photography is all about light and the way that it affects the things around us.  None of the following images would be in any way special if it wasn’t for an interesting subject, the way it was lit and the quality of the light falling through
or upon it.  It’s precisely that quality that the photographs here try to capture,

some times more successfully than others.

Don McCullin once said that: "Photography for me is not looking, it's feeling, if you can't feel what you're looking at, then you're never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures."

​

I'm fully aware that I'm not to be compared with Sir Don. I'm also aware that not all of these images will cause anyone to feel anything at all; photography after all, is an intensely personal thing and the viewer may wonder sometimes what the thinking was when some of the images were taken.  They all said something to me, however, and I hope that most of them will to you.
